I applied as a Biochemistry major. I'm not sure if I want to switch or not. I want to go into pharmacy or pediatrics or become a medical scientist............can anybody give me any input on the major at UCLA?

It's arguably the most difficult major at UCLA. Enjoy the ride.

i'd say biochem is a good major for pharm. a lot of biochem majors are pre-pharm.

but its pretty tough, especially if you dont really like/understand chem. i was biochem (and pre-pharm) and i switched out. found out chem really wasnt my thing at all after taking the 20/30 chem series. you can be other majors and still be pre-pharm, but i think pharm school will involve a lot of chem/biochem so i suppose it would be better to get a better background in those areas during your undergrad.

VTECaddict,

What did you switch to?

physiological science

what does that entail? is it more psychology? sorry if I sound dumb.

Not really. Courses are dedicated to explaining the function of complex biological systems, in cells, organs, and individuals.

VTEC can give you more information.

I believe the hardest major is a major you don't like. Much like how one day in a major you love may seem like 30 minutes while a day in a major you hate may seem like a week, choose a major you think you will like.
