BioE/BME PhD: Stanford vs. Johns Hopkins

Hi all,

So, I have narrowed down my choices for pursuing my PhD in BioE/BME to Stanford or Johns Hopkins. I visited both during interview weekends, and I really loved both. I had heard many bad things about Baltimore but it really wasn't that bad, and I actually liked it, haha. Location is a non-issue for me.

Honestly, it really is all about academics at this point. They both seem pretty equivalent to me at this point, which is why I am having difficulty deciding. I liked multiple faculty at both places, and both places had people that can open doors for me later on post-PhD.

My goal is to become a professor eventually and have my own research lab.

Which would you guys choose, and why?

Thanks!!

JHU is #1 in BME, so I would go with that. Also, JHU is known in the field for medicine and BME in general, so that might be more “prestigious” in the medical/BME community.

None-the-less, well done, and best wishes!

Stanford! Palo Alto and the Bay Area is awesome!

But it also depends on you sub-field within BME
