I’ve been admitted to UCSD for bioengineering: biosystems and both UCD and UCI for Biomedical Engineering. How does UCLA compare to these schools for this major? I’ve heard that it’s a new program and therefore has limited opportunities for research and internships. Is this true?
Where do you guys hear this stuff? Seriously.
@alicantekid so…not true?
I don’t think it’s fair to call it a new program with limited opportunities. I think in comparison to UCSD’s bioengineering department, UCLA would be a newer program with fewer but still available opportunities. I believe the UCLA BE department isn’t ABET-accredited yet.
UCLA’s BE program is ABET accredited. The only reason it wasn’t accredited prior to 2012 was because back in 2006 (the previous ABET accreditation period), they were only 2 years old and no one had graduated yet and there was really nothing to accredit.
Over 80% of BE undergrads at UCLA do research for at least a year.
Thanks for the input!!
