<p>I have to choose between BME at USC, BME at Vandy or BioE (non-BME) at Hopkins....</p>
<p>I have been awarded two scholarships and research money at USC (all for four years depending on grades) and nothing else at the other two schools. However, USCs BME major is not ABET accredited...Please help me! I also might want to go to medical school. Would the extensive amount of research that I can do starting freshman year make up for the (in general) lower quality of the program and the lack of ABET....???</p>
<p>Hey congratulations on your acceptance into those schools. Well I don't know much about the BME programs at those schools so I can't offer you direct advice on why to choose one. However, I feel that choosing a college is a very important decision in your life and that you should think it over very carefully. Good luck!</p>
<p>One thing that I may be able to help you on is the ABET accreditation issue with USC. My school's BME program is not ABET accredited. However, my Dean mentioned that our program will be evaluated within the next two years for accreditation. On the other hand, just because a program isn't accredited doesn't mean that it hasn't been evaluated. It might have been evaluated and not deemed credible.</p>
<p>You should still keep your eye on other issues such as those you mentioned (quality of the program, research, options after graduation, and anything else that you find important). I just wanted to let you know that the program might have the possibility of being ABET accredited in the near future. I would suggest researching this with USC if you have time.</p>
<p>IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!!!!: Hey, my mistake. In my last post, the last sentence sounds a little like I am suggesting that you to go to USC. I meant to say research the status of USC with ABET. That is, find out if they have been evaluated or will be soon. I don't want to tell you or anybody where to go to college. That's a very important decision and up to the individual. I apoligize for any confusion.</p>
