Bioengineering at MIT, Harvard and Yale

Deciding where to EA is a bit different than deciding where to go if you are fortunate enough to have a choice among 3 of the most selective schools. Data from the Harvard litigation showed historically at least that there was an admissions boost for Harvard. Anecdotally, while Yale denies that there is a boost, there is a suspicion that there is at least an advantage stemming from the fact that every place in the “orchestra” is still open, especially if you have a “niche” (the proverbial tuba player). The reputation for MIT is that there is no advantage. So from a gaming perspective, Harvard is probably the best choice for REA.

When it comes to choices if you ever get there, to me it is an individualized question of goals and fit. First and foremost, you want to be choosing a school where you will be happy and have the best chance of success. After that, it is a question of goals and certainty of field of study. Choosing MIT is a commitment to a STEM focused course of undergraduate study. Harvard and Yale allow much greater opportunity to venture into other areas.
