Bioengineering at UCSD

I got into SD for bioengineering and I wanna know more about the program. Im contemplating switching into something like Computer Science or Computer Engineering since biology this year totally made me get this second opinion on bioengineering, as a whole. Dont get me wrong...I respect the field and everything. Its just idk if I am ready for that. How do you guys find it compared to all the other majors that UCSD has to offer?

P.S. I am also the kinda person that is good at math but cant stand science (esp physics and molecular bio)…is this really for me?

If you don’t like biology, I would say do a different engineering instead of bioengineering, but then you don’t like physics…(which is integral for engineering)…yet you like math?

Mathematics major, or economics. If the former, I suggest going to grad school.

If you don’t like science, bioengineering is not for you…

thanks for the feedback guys.

Im thinking of doing Comp Sci or CompE since that isnt as much science…plus, I like workign with computers. When I say I cant stand physics, I mean that I am not the best at it and that if I were given an option, I wouldnt do it. Physics, chem, and bio are interesting and I like it…tho I dont know if that feeling is mutual, as seen by how well I do in them.

I think you should do a lot more research into the fields you want to enter, like which course s you’d be taking. CompE is definitely science, don’t be fooled by the “Comp”. It’s basically the same as electrical engineering (which is almost completely application of physics) with extra programming / computer architecture courses…

I am not sure about computer science, maybe you should check out the course lists for that. However, they will make you take the full physics series in the first 2 years.

General rule of thumb, if the major has the word “engineering” in it, then it is basically 100% application of physics. (Except for financial engineering, and maybe industrial/sales)

Hope that helps

thanks for the advice, enemyunit!
