I'm currently a Bioengineering at Berkeley, but I'm not really sure what exactly it is or if I even want to keep pursuing this major. I know this is a really popular major right now but I just can't see what this major would really be good for in the future. I'd really appreciate it if people can share how they feel about this major and if they love it, why or if they don't like it, why, etc. Thanks!

I think the general view on these boards of a biomedical engineer degree is that it is too specialized a major, and that by getting a BS in it you are removing yourself from competition for jobs in similar fields while competing for jobs that will most likely go to people with MS or PhD. Traditionally, ChemEs, MechEs, and EEs have all gone into biomedical industries, dependent on what you actually want to do in that arena. Experience and dedication to a career can focus someone as much as a specialty, so why pigeon hole yourself by working it into your major? Especially if the job market is tight, it is good to have options.
