How do bioengineering/biomedical engineering programs compare at Penn and UMich? I know that as a whole, UMich’s engineering program is considered “better” than Penn’s SEAS. However, I know that their bioengineering programs for undergraduates are similar in the rankings. I’ve also heard that they put a large emphasis on business in SEAS at Penn, which does not particularly interest me. I would probably opt to obtain a doctorate and go on to conduct research.
I’ll probably apply to some other good engineering schools, but I’m not positive it’s what I want to do, which is why it’s important that the school I attend has strength in other areas (like Penn and UMich).
I’d appreciate it if anyone can comment on the nature of the Penn bioengineering program (and UMich’s if possible).
