Hey, I'm a rising sophomore at Northwestern University. Things kind of went to hell with my financial aid and I have been struggling with personal issues since a month into the fall quarter. I can't increase the already considerable financial burden on my family by staying at Northwestern, and I'm not very happy here anyway. The bioengineering and biostatistics programs at University of Washington are highly ranked and if I can apply for state residency after a year the school will be much cheaper than attending NU. I have two basic questions regarding the school and program. First, how difficult is transferring into the program? I had decent stats in high school (4.0, 33 ACT, 2200 SAT, Valedictorian, okay activities and work experience) and am doing okay in college (3.5 as statistics major transferring into engineering, pretty involved in a handful of student organizations). I missed the recent transfer deadline, so I will be applying to start at some point later in my sophomore year. Second, how expensive is it in general to sublet an apartment near campus? I have to keep all costs in mind. Thanks for any help and advice.
