Bioinformatics or computer science?

Right now my major is bioinformatics and I’m pre-med. I have an early acceptance to medical school but it comes with a lot of course requirements. Because of this, I decided to just major in bioinformatics as opposed to computer science. I’m starting to worry about what I will do after college though. I’m mostly worried that down the road I’ll decide not to go to medical school and I’ll have a bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics. I’m not sure if I’ll find any jobs with that degree, even if I would love working in a field with both biology and computer science. Would I be better off changing my major to computer science and minoring in biology? (This would be really difficult and I would probably have to go to summer school to accomplish this and my medical school requirements) Could I possibly get a regular programming job with a bioinformatics degree? I honestly can’t decide on what I should do.

You could get a programming job with a bioinformatics degree.

^^^^ While you won’t have as diverse options as a Computer Science/Computer Engineering for a programming job, many majors such as Mathematics/Physics/Bioinformatics/Cognitive Science and especially with a minor CS are all eligible for a programming career. You’ll just probably also want to learn a bit more online too, as most CS majors already do this plenty.
