Bioinformatics

I was planning to major in biochemistry or biology (2nd choice) as a pre-med but I came across the course bioinformatics today at my most likely college. The course seems exciting and the college's webpage talked a lot about research and stuff. My interest is research and medical school school in the future. What do you guys think about bioinformatics? How is the future for a student majoring in this course of study?

Mainly, I don't initially get the impression that you are actually talking about an actual major being offered. Simply because there's a single class offered, doesn't mean there's a major. Perhaps I'm misreading what you've written though.

If there is an actual major, I don't think it's any worse than any other academic major. Basically I don't think this would qualify as a "vocational" major that BDM so commonly distinguishes from academic ones.

They put it as a major. Not being a "vocational" is a good thing right?
Another question, if someone is reading. Is BA in Biology not a good thing for med school compared to a BS?
