Is this major considered difficult? What GPA would "most" students who major in this field have? What GPA would set "better" students apart from the "average" students?

i want to know also

Isn't it kind of obvious? If you're applying to med school, get the best grades you can, and get your GPA as close to 4.0 as possible. Average would probably be low 3.0's.

No, I mean is it harder to get a GPA in the mid 3's in bio than in say something like business?

or chemistry?

Biology is considered a very tough major. I've come to understand that chem is considered a tougher major, though. I only know the average for my college of science and math, and that is about 2.7. Regarding business, it's not really on the same level as bio or chem. It's much less rigorous.

Business is much more rigorous than bio or chem?

It is a bit silly to say "this major is tougher than that major" without talking about a specific school, AND a specific kid.

But wait. For bio, it gets worse. Bio as a field hardly exists any more, if, indeed, it ever did. Are you talking about ecology? molecular biology? cell biology? Neuro? bioinformatics? computational neurobiology? If you don't like math, the last two would be very tough. But a techie would probably find them pretty easy.

So, it depends on what you like and what you're good at, and the rigor of the school.

Many folks find humanities and languages to be easy. It took me 5 quarters to pass one year of a language in order to graduate. But Chem was easy.

So don't sweat picking an easy major. Pick one that wil excite you, so the work is more like fun. An easy business major could be pure drudgery if you don't like the stuff. For instance, memorizing accounting rules...

I was claiming that bio and chem are much tougher than business. I was basing that on how much people at my college study vs. what grades they recieve. IMO, business/humanities students don't work as hard as hard as the science students, yet recieve higher grades. Regarding the field, biology has many different sects to choose from, or "concentrate" in.
