So, ya, senior here with a list of schools to apply to.

UW Seattle (Safety 1)
WSU (Safety 2)
(no order from here)
Northeastern
Santa Clara
Villanova
University of San Diego
Loyola University in Maryland

I'm interested in a biology/biochemistry/molecular biology, maybe a chemistry major (with a minor in computer science). I want to go into scientific research later on (Masters/ph.D in lieu of an MD). All of these schools (with the exception of WSU) are in the best cities across the US for biomedical/biological research.

I know Baltimore is known for Johns Hopkins, but I know there are alot of other biomedical/bio companies out in the area.
So ya, for internships/research with a professor, local companies, and general opportunity, how is loyola in Maryland?

jbear15,
I am not sure I can completely answer your question since my son is not a science major. I do know that several professors in the Honors Program at Loyola had mentioned NIH (National Institute of Health) among other internship opportunities for science majors. I do know of at least 1 PHD cancer researcher at NIH who teaches biology at Loyola. Additionally, Loyola is a member of the Baltimore Student Exchange Program. Loyola students can register for classes not available at Loyola at 12 other colleges and universities including Johns Hopkins and UMBC. Also, Baltimore Collegetown posts quite a few internships (close to 200) on their website. Occasionally a biological internship will show up on this website as currently there is one with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the summer of 2011.
Finally, Loyola is looking to expand in the sciences and is investing quite a bit of money into their science programs.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck with your college search.
