Hello,

I would be interested about your opinion, as to which UC campus to chose (!)for the following mixture of biological sciences modules: molecular genetics/developmental biology/cell biology(!). This would be an undergraduate course, and academic strength is the thing I am interested in the most. I don't mind the weather, social life, how clean the campus is, accommodation or anything of that sort. Until recently, I have been pretty sure that Berkeley is the place to be, but I've seen some statistics which list other campuses as better options, and I got a little bit confused.

Thank you very much in advance!

Well UCSD is very strong in the biological sciences, it is their strongest program. There is a huge biotech industry in San Diego, so that contributes to the strength of the program. Berkeley is also a very good choice, but stronger across the board whereas UCSD is definitely strongest in and focused on biology.

Would you say then, that SD > B for those programmes?

You should ask this on the UC-forum, GENERAL, you’ll get more responses.

It’s hard to go wrong with most of the UC schools for biomedical sciences. UCSF, Berkeley, UCSD would probably be your best bet, but UC Davis and Santa Barbara are also strong in certain areas in the biomedical sciences.

^ UCSF is a graduate-only campus, so UCquestion would not be able to do an undergraduate year there.

Thank you very much for the responses. I reposted the thread in the UC General forum.
