Biology AP Test

If you intend to major in Biology should you bother to take the AP test? If you get a 3, the UIUC website says you get credit for Integrative Biology 100. If you get a 4 or 5, you get credit for IB 150 and Molecular & Cellular Biology. Would it be better to take the classes or try to test out?

if you're really good at biology than take it so you don't have to waste your time wiht it in college. if you're a little rusty than you might want to skip it and take it in college so you can brush up a bit.

If you are majoring in it then they won't let you skip those courses for biology. So, there really is no point in wasting your $83 in my opinion. They may give you the "credits" but you'll still have to take those same classes. This is only if you are majoring in Bio though...

id still spend the $83 and get the credits, because there is a decent chance that you might want to switch majors out of biology, maybe to chemistry or kinesiology or community health or really anything. keep your options opened.

Actually, you don't have to take the classes even if you are majoring in Bio. A 4 or 5 will get you out of MCB 150 and IB 150. They still recommend that you take them, but it's not required.
