I'm considering a transfer to UCSB and I'll probably major in biology.

Does anybody know anything about the program? I know it's strong, but how difficult is it to get into classes? How big is an average class, and are the professors generally well-liked? Thanks.

ALL UC’s have excellent Science programs
The program at UCSB is veryyy unique b/c once a freshy u r not automatically into the program

after 2-3 quarters of pre-major work you choose a “specility strand” that you want toemphasize in

The 2 are:
- Evolution, Ecology, and Marine Biology
- Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology

After that you take courses and do research in your particular department

The Classes issue is definitly an issue b/c UCSB is dealing through cutting departmental budgets… so nothing is certain
