Okay, so I didn’t take any advanced bio class in my school, but am willing to take some bio classes. To do so, I want to take a “0100 level” bio course if you will. But I don’t see any legit “fundamental” bio class. There are some biotech class and other miscellaneous classes, and then it jumps up to a pretty hard looking bio classes. So brown does not offer any basic bio class huh?

Bio 200 (The Foundation of Living Systems) is the basic bio class and it’s only offered during the Spring semester.

BIOL0200 is a fantastic class, jointly taught by Professors Ken Miller and John Stein. (search youtube for Miller – he’s done a lot of speaking on evolution, and is a wonderfully engaging lecturer.) Definitely take it – great introduction to biology, with a great teaching team.

This is a dumb question, but is it common to take bio and chem in the same semester—especially if one is planning to double concentrate in two completely unrelated fields only to graduate on time?

Many of my pre-med friends have already done so in their first year. Just be sure you can handle the work and the time spent in the lab.
