So my orientation is tomorrow the 26th and I saw online that all the Bio 112 classes are full and several people are on the wait list. I'm a neuroscience major and my major only takes Bio 112 or Bio-H-111 (which I assume is Honors?) What should I do? I'm kind of freaking out...can I take Bio 112 in the spring?? I would like info ASAP.

Unless I’m missing something, L112 in its new hybrid version has 172 seats available…

L 112 : P - High School or College Chemistry
L 112 : Credit given for only one of the following: BIOL-L
100, L 104, E 112, L 112, S 115, or Q 201
L 112 : Biological Mechanisms will be taught as a hybrid
course, which means that all lecture material will be
available online, but that there will also be one, required,
two-hour class meeting per week. It is also a flipped
class, which means that students will view video lectures,
read, and do textbook-related online activities before each
weeks class meeting. Students will be guided by a weekly
Question Bank and will have opportunities to review questions
and other material with other students and with instructors
before each weeks in-class session. The two-hour weekly
in-class session will be used for short quizzes and
collaborative, active, and inquiry-based activities meant to
deepen student understanding of course topics and provide
practice in disciplinary thinking (e.g., visualizing
biological processes, making predictions, and drawing
conclusions from data). Most two-hour blocks will include
some whole-class time and some time in smaller learning
groups. Three times during the semester, the in-class
session will be used for exams.
IUB GenEd N&M credit - Natural Science
COLL (CASE) N&M Breadth of Inquiry credit

SoccerG is correct and BIOL H111 is for IFLE scholars only. However, L113 (lab) is all gone.

I am not sure when the on-line courses start to become the mainstream. DS3’s BUS A311 will be using access code.

Sorry, I saw that after I posted it, thanks though! How come that has so many seats left though?

Probably because it’s fairly new (I’m not sure if it’s been offered before), and a lot of people just don’t really like online classes. The L112 I posted above is a hybrid–you basically teach yourself during the week, and use the class time on Friday to take quizzes/exams and to cover more broad topics.

If you’re self-motivated, that’s great. But a lot of students will just blow it all off and cram before exams. YMMV
