Hey everyone, I am a Biology major - if anyone has any questions about it I'd be glad to answer!
I'm also apart of greek life and oxy athletics and could answer questions about that.

I am interested in Biomedical field, not necessary MD, but maybe Pharm D or MS-PA. Any comment on how Oxy may not be a good fit for that? Thanks.

Hi, I’m an international student from the UK hoping to apply to Oxy next year. I am interested in Biology and was wondering if Biology-type courses/majors/minors are good at Oxy - are they interesting? Also, what is the greek life like at Oxy, is it a good school socially? Also, can a student (such as yourself) who majors in biology also do courses in more arty subjects like theatre or film? Could they try out a humanities subject if they wanted? Lastly, when did you have to declare your major by? Thankyouuu :)

Hi, I applied to Oxy this year and I’m hoping to major in Biology. I was wondering whether there are a lot of field study opportunities for students and if you could give me some examples. Thanks!

Britishstudent - Even though I’m not a science major, I took a zoology class last semester to fulfill my lab science requirement. It was extremely interesting! My friends who are bio majors also love it. The greek life is also a great opportunity to meet new people and be socially involved on campus. I’m not involved in the greek life currently, but I have MANY friends who are, and they love it. (here’s the website: [Occidental College :: Fraternity & Sorority Life](http://www.oxy.edu/x5343.xml)). Every student has core requirements they must fulfill in every subject, so taking an art class even if you’re a bio major is actually required! I am a psychology major, but I also really enjoy art, so I’ve decided to minor in it. Many of my friends have minors in different subjects, too. Oxy is a great place to explore other interests because they challenge you to take a variety of different classes and give you the opportunity to have multiple majors and minors. And you must declare your major by the end of sophomore year. Hope this helps!

mochi012 - As i mentioned in my post above, the biology department is wonderful here at oxy! Because we are near the ocean, marine biology is also very popular. There are some wonderful opportunities offered in the biology department, too. Here’s a website to read about them!
lizlemon59- Thank you so much for your in depth reply, i really appreciate it! :)
