I am going to take the SAT II Biology E/M test in NOV… Im,so nervous!) I would to sort of how to organize my study schedule. Could you guys please tell me which biology subject test you you took (E or M), the score you got, the prep book you used?
, what was your study schedule (how long you studied each day and for how many days), and how much exposure you had of biology before you took the test
Do you go school by public transportation or does a relative pick you up/drop you off? My teacher said try studying small things when leaving/coming to school (don’t do it if you have other tests on that day XD) and if you have a library in your school and you are allowed to go there during study hall or during lunch, then try studying there too. Take practice tests and keep in mind that even though you are studying for one specific format, you are going to counter the latter topic (If you are taking E, you focus 25% on M and vice versa). I took M on June, after taking SAT II Bio class and got 640ish (I forgot the score lol, but it’s around there). I also retook the exam last week (M again) and it seemed really easy than June’s (I finished the test in 40 minutes, o_o).
However, I think another factor that played along is me taking AP Bio at the moment, so a lot of the questions seemed easier than others (like GPP and NPP). If you want to prep hardcore and wish for a 700+, get Barron’s and use it with your biology textbook (advanced/introductory biology textbooks, like Campbell’s, are recommended (however that book is a monster to tame esp in a month)).
Hm, my schedule… Like I said before, that my school offered an SAT II Bio class (as a prerequisite for AP Bio), so every Wednesday I had that class (from February to May), and I “crammed” the day before the test (I don’t know but I work better when I am under pressure) which took me about four hours to finish the Barron’s book. I don’t recommend you to this, LOL. Well, the teacher I had for Biology was the best one in my school (and she was my SAT II teacher and is currently my AP Bio teacher). Try asking the teacher in your school who teaches AP Bio for some worksheets because it is very likely to see some topics of AP Bio on the test.
Remember SAT II Bio exam is more detailed than the AP Bio exam itself, so expect your studying time to take at least an hour. And remember if you believe that you didn’t get the best score, it’s not the end of the world. This is only used for admissions.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me and good luck studying!
