So I am a 9th grade student in honors biology and I’ve signed up to take the SAT Subject Test in Biology (M for me) in June of this year. I know I am already behind so I’ve begun studying by taking practice tests from Princeton Review (found it online), the CollegeBoard, and a diagnostics test from Barron’s. I’ve scored in the 660-690 range. What I’ve been doing is recording every single one of my mistakes and writing down in a notebook that I’ve dedicated for the sole purpose of study the concept that needed clarification or that I didn’t know at all. I’ve also purchased the newest Barron’s book and intend to study it cover to cover thoroughly. Is there anything else I can do that would boost my score to a 750+? Anything would help thanks!
Barron’s is notoriously difficult. Princeton Review, on the other hand, isn’t as bad – but has long experiments, much longer than I found on the actual test. What helped me the most was hunkering down and studying – my range jumped from the low 700s to about 770-790. I would recommend extensively studying the topics that you likely haven’t covered much in class, like hormones and animal behavior. Knowing the phyla is also helpful, as are knowing all the functions of the body systems and how they work.
Is it possible to review the content (AP student) well enough in 14 days? I just got the CollegeBoard Study guide and the barrons book, idk if I can finish in the time i have. I’ll have to double up on a few topics for some days, but if I study at least 1 topic (double up sometimes) per day, I’ll finish content review by the day before the test. Of course, I’ll be taking practice tests and diagnostics to see where I am. Starting today.
It’s definitely possible. I only got the hormones completely down about 3 days before the test.
