How was your experience as a biology major? I know it varies for every person and school, but I just wanted to get a general feel before I apply for college
That’s an incredibly vague question. Do you mean the types of courses? The culture? The difficulty? The curriculum is relatively standard across a lot of universities, but everything else can vary hugely from school to school.
@nanotechnology sorry about that. I mean the courses and difficulty
What courses are required for a biology major is available on all of the school’s websites.
The difficulty can vary a lot. At some schools, introductory biology is a weeder class, while at others it’s genetics, for example. Some places put more emphasis on the lab components of a course than others. (For mine, lab sections were considered writing-intensive and often required 20-page lab reports.) It’s impossible to say how difficult it will be for you, since I don’t know your strengths and weaknesses and study skills. Biology is generally not considered as difficult as a lot of engineering degrees, but the type of skills you need are different. It’s not as mathematically intense, but it requires a lot of memorization, as well as synthesizing all of the information you’re told in class to make sense of it.
