ok so im a feshmen in college an was wondering if being a biology major will lead me to a job like healthcare/medicine, and i know its human biology.

If you want to do medicine, you'll need to go to medical school after your undergrad degree. Doing premed in undergrad, you can major in pretty much anything and still go on to med school (although I think a lot of people do biology).

so if i have a Bachelors degree in biology i can just go to med school after?

Yes, you can go to med school with a degree in biology, or pretty much any other major.
But you don't "just go" - it's more of a difficult process of finding and applying.

so say i dont go to med school, would a degree in biology be enough to get a job in any medical fields?

I'm a CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technichian) I'm a freshman in College and took the certification test (although biology sure helps).

Odds are, you're going to have to do some MORE school to get into a part of the medical field. (Even my Certification required me to get a course book and teach myself the in's and out's).

Honestly though, you don't sound like you're all that interested in medicine. And if you're going into this field because of money, you will be miserable and I mean that to be bold and italicized.

Find something your interested in and roll with it. If you just want a bio degree and want to know what to do with it, there are several search engines. Bio Majors are suited for MANY tasks. If you want to get into medicine. I mean SERIOUSLY get into medicine. You will likely have to go to another training school (Nursing, Pharmacy, Med school, etc.) Just know that.

yea i get what your saying. i actually am interested in medicine , i just know its going to cost a lot of money , with med school and everything. i know there are a lot of options in having, JUST a degree in biology. I know people in medical fields also get a lot of money and i know it will NOT be an easy road but with the way the economy is and there not being that many jobs the only way I know I can get a job soon after i finish school with good pay is a medical profession. I know you and the whole world might say "do what you want to do" but honestly I just want to be successfull.

bump bump bump

Just a bachelor's in a field usually isn't enough nowadays. Like Theyus said, you'll need more than that. Getting a master's in a related field after your bachelor's, or doing Pharmacy or Med school or something like that.

IMO, if you want to be 'successful,' it's easier done with a higher degree.

thank you so much for your help swamp147 , I was wondering if i wanted to major in medical technology, would I have to go to med school .

You don't have to go to med school if you wish to have a career in medical technology.

You don't seem to be too sure as to what exactly you want to do for a career, which is perfectly fine. Just know that you should do something that you like! Spend time to find a profession that both fits you and gives you a solid financial basis. You don't want to be stuck with a job you hate, but you don't want to be lacking in other aspects of your life either.

I'd suggest you browse through this page describing majors, degrees offered for them, related careers, etc.

To find out more about the medical/biological field, check out "biological and biomedical sciences," "biomedical engineering" (under the engineering category), "health professions," and "science technologies."

is it even worth it to get a bachelors of science degree in medical technology, if you only need two years?

bump ......

bump again srry if im being a pain

nope :)
i just havent had time to get on as much

i dont really understand your question above. a bachelor's degree is 4 years; an associate's degree is two years.

yea i was just wondering if a bachelors in medical technology was worth it , even though some community colleges have the program?

To be honest, I don't really know the benefits and disadvantages of each path. I'm not too familiar with bio majors, since I'm into something different.

Someone with more info on this topic can reply.

Better yet, since you're a freshman in college, you can ask for the advice of some of your biology/related subjects professors or advisors/counselors. They can tell you more about medical tech, and what the best way to complete a degree in it is.

thank you so much for your help!
