Hi, I want to have a major in Biology for Med-School but also I would like to have a minor in Spanish, would that be recommendable? I am fluent in Spanish because that is my native language and I passed the AP test with 5. What you guys think?

Heh, a girl I know has almost that exact same setup. Recommendable? I don’t know, it’s obviously gonna put more stress on you to have to complete some extra classes, and I doubt med schools are going to really care about a spanish minor, but if it’s what you want to do, I see no reason you shouldn’t.

The only thing I’d say is to really think about why you want to do the Spanish minor. One of my friends started a language minor, and now it haunts him because he’s so many classes in that he can’t quit, but it’s totally wasting his time.

I’ve actually heard it’s better to major in something like Spanish to get into Med School. You’re competing with every other bio major for that Med School spot, but not a lot of people major in Spanish so you stick out. I actually have a friend who’s majoring in Spanish and is Pre-Med. Pre-Med is just a track. You have to take so many classes that gear you towards Med school admissions and the MCAT. So essentially, you can major in whatever you want and still take bio and chem classes with all the other Pre-Med students.

Ok, I don’t think it will be so hard because I love that language basically it will be kind of easy because it’s my native language. let’s see if I have enough time!
