<p>You can do research with only a MD, you don't need a PhD.</p>
<p>But if you got into an MD/PhD program, you would go right if you felt equally passionate about both fields and the perk of free housing and free tuition for 7 yrs, am I right?</p>
<p>MD/PhD is a good track for those who want to make research their primary careers and see patients as well. In no other scenario is it worthwhile.</p>
