Biology or Microbiology?

Which major would look better in the eyes of medical school admission officers?

It doesn’t matter what you major in, as long as you complete the pre-med requirements with a good gpa, do well on the MCAT, have some experience in the medical field, and show genuine interest in medicine.

You should choose a major that you are enthusiastic about, and it doesn’t have to be a science. Medical schools like English and history majors just as much as they like biology majors. Having said that, I would say that if you are genuinely interested in both microbiology and biology, the former has more relevance to medicine.

Please don’t spend your undergraduate years choosing majors and classes that you think will impress medical schools.
