What AP prep book would you recommend me if I'm going to self study for Bio? I heard Cliffs is the best, PR is good, and Barrons is too much info. I don't want to learn unnecessary info, so which book do you recommend?

Also, any tips or advice on studying for these AP's (not self study)
-Calc AB
-US government
-economics
-English lit (do I need to study for it? didn't for language and i did fine)

hey man,
im in the same boat as you im looking to self study it.
and yeah i heard cliffs pr and barrons
but i feel like its hard to just read the prep book without prior knowledge, what do you think?

It’s definitely more harder than if we actually took the class, but it’s doable. I heard alot of people on here say they self studied for it and did fine. It’s mostly just facts, so all we have to do is memorize or learn the material. I think even without prior knowledge, we could do good if we just spend enough time before the exam studying for it.

Yeah. Definitely self-study-able. Basically had to do that this year and I got a 5. Used Cliffs. And if you do decide to self study it, do it this upcoming year. They’re revising the course and exam for 2013.

yeah get cliffs, but usually the diagrams in it SUCK. My regular bio teacher gave me the campbell-reece textbook to borrow (she gave me the 5th edition, which is really old, but worked fine for me). That book helped SOOOO much for visuals. If you can’t borrow it, DON’T BUY IT!. it’s like 200 bucks. rent at chegg.com. PM if you have any questions, I selfed this year, too. :)

Get Campbell. I self Studied AP Bio just this last year and got a 5 using the 5th edition of Campbell. As for AP prep books, I was lazy and went through 5 steps to a 5
