Biology Textbook: 8th AP Edition vs. 9th Edition

I was just given a copy of the AP Edition of Campbell's Biology Eighth Edition, and I know that FSU is using Ninth Ed. right now. Does anyone know if the difference between the regular and AP versions of the book are too different to be able to use this for BSC2010? Or even if the difference between the eighth and ninth is too much? Thanks.

My guess is that more of the class will use the 8th edition. Now days, it is such a game. Publishers come up with a new edition almost yearly, and most years the only change is the cover. Profs are so used to this that they will often make note in the beginning of class of any differences. I have been buying used books 1-2 editions earlier with good luck for both D’s for the last few years. The last chemistry book I had in hand was 2 editions earlier. D went to the bookstore with it and compared the pages and they were identical. You can try the same. If you have the book, go with it. If you get there and it is totally new, you can always buy it there.
