Can someone tell me the differences between the two and where each would fit in in the job market? Is it better to get an undergraduate in a less specific major and then get graduate in either Biomed or Biochem?

62 Views, not one reply? Anyone? Thanks.

BioMed Engineering is basically like "making medicine" etc...
while
BioChem is not engineering and you just learn the concepts and rarely apply them through projects etc...get it?

Biomedical also has to do with creating things like pacemakers, artificial joints, artificial valves, etc... Million Dollar Man component designers.

Thanks both of you, I understand the biomed now. But I really think I've seen Biochemical Engineering as a degree, anyone care to comment on what that would be?

Theres chem engineering with a minor in bio engineer but i havent heard of biochemical engineering

"Biochemical engineering is a branch of chemical engineering that mainly deals with the design and construction of unit processes that involve biological organisms or molecules. Biochemical engineering is often taught as a supplementary option to chemical engineering due to the similarities in both the background subject curriculum and problem-solving techniques used by both professions. Its applications are used in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and water treatment industries."
