I'm an applicant for PhD in BME for Fall 2010. I got invited to Michigan Ann-Arbor for recruitment visit, but I haven't heard from any other schools (UPenn, GA Tech, Berkeley, in particular). Has anyone here heard from any of the schools?

I haven’t heard back officially from any schools about interviews. I’ve been in contact with a professor at UPenn and he said that the admissions committee has just started sending applicant profiles to the professors, so interview decisions haven’t been made yet.

applied: duke, hopkins, upenn, univ of colorado, rice, gtech, umcp, and uva

Applied: Duke,JHU,MIT,UCB,BU,UCLA,Stanford. Also applied to Harvard Systems Bio and Texas Austin CMB. I think I’ll receive a rejection letter from Harvard soon, as they seem to send out their invitation letters like 2 weeks ago. Regarding Texas Austin, some dudes also got invited on 8th Jan. I sent the school email and got to know that they hadn’t even received my transcript. They told me to send another one or my app wouldn’t be reviewed. Anyway, I think my chance for this one is also very slim now unless they truly send out invitation in waves :-(

4.88/5 GPA, 1400 GRE
Bioengineering major
International, no pub :-(

applied: upenn, gtech, berkeley, michigan, upitt, case, wisconsin, cornell
3.76/4.0 GRE 1470
chemical engineering major

berkeley said they’re reviewing the apps till jan 12, which was last tuesday… i’m getting nervous cuz they’re not telling me anything, and when i called them today it would automatically transfer to voice message!

Have an interview invitation from UC San Diego BE program on Feb 19th. But have not heard back from anywhere else. I heard Berkeley reviewed applicants last thursday and MIT started this week.

Applied: UCSF/Berkeley, UWash, MIT, Duke, and UCSD.
Interview: UCSD

UCB/UCSF sent out interview emails today. The email was addressed “TO: Prospective Bioengineering Grad Students” so I’m assuming it was done as one mass email. (obviously, I’m not sure, though)

The only other program I know of that’s sent out invites is Caltech.

noooooooooooooooooooo!! berkeley did send out an email??? nooooooo!!!

okay… i’m gonna say i didn’t pass the first round because i’m an international student… oh man this is really sad. thanks for the information though!! it’s much much better than waiting, not knowing what’s happening

we’re in the same boat uneoao Berkeley is the one I’m looking forward to the most, despite knowing UC schools are always hard for international students.
Really worried now that my morale will keep plummetting in the next 2 weeks. Think I’m aiming too high, dun even have a safe choice…

Mostly just confirming what’s already been posted. Berkeley sent out a mass interview invite email for the two interview weekends they’re having. Even the pdf “letter” itself was en masse (Dear Prospective Student) as opposed to UCSD who took the time to personal the “to” line on the pdf.

Congratz falesafe!
Well I hope Duke sent that invitation to those residing in US only. Yesterday I received an email from Duke, but just a status update.

so… it seems like duke, jhu, berkeley, ucsd, caltech have sent out interview invitations, and among them i only applied to berkeley… is there anyone here who applied to georgia tech or upenn? any news from them? anyone?

and has anyone had problem with transcripts? i’m in the US, and i have several schools not received transcripts, even though i sent it nearly 7 weeks ago…

Hey uneoao, you’d better check with those schools. Read my story about Texas Austin I had thought that they would have sent me an email if sth were missing…,
Btw, yesterday I received email from MIT saying the invitation letter would be sent out in mid/late February. I hate waiting… :-(
