Anyone know anything about biomedical engineering at Brown?
How is the program?

I believe CyberKinetics was started by Brown BME graduates (I'm not sure if they were BME graduates in particular). Engineering at Brown is ranked at #50, so the programs are not particularly well known. However, considering that Brown has a strong medical school and has a fairly good engineering program in general, I'd say it's worth applying for. In any case, if you decide to change majors or want to take liberal arts classes along the way, Brown's the best school to do exactly that.

One of my professors is a biomedical engineer and he's supposed to be one of the leading thinkers of organ replacement, tissue engineering, and artificial limbs. (Dr. Michael Lysaght).

does the field of biomedical engineering involve the study of tissue/limb replacement using embryonic stem stells? (though i don't know what else they would do it with) i wonder if i could take a course on that at brown, seems really interesting

I'm sure one of Dr. Lysaght's classes covers the topic. Tissue engineering was cancelled for this semester, unfortunately.

aww, how come? not enough enrollment? :-

I'm in engineering (but thinking of getting out) and almost EVERYONE in the Freshman class in engin is doing BioMed. It's getting accredited this year, so it's only going to get bigger.
