Biomedical Engineering IB Subjects

Hello guys,

I'm in my second year of the IB and I've already applied to two universities for ED and EA. I applied for Cognitive Neuroscience, but I may choose to go into the field of Biomedical Engineering as it seems particularly interesting from what I read of it.

I've taken the following subjects:

Math HL
Bio HL
Econ HL

English SL
French ab initio SL
ESS SL

Do you guys think I'll be able to go into the field of Biomedical Engineering? Or will I lag behind because I have not taken Physics and/or Chemistry? Will even the introductory level courses for BME require knowledge in the fields of Physics and/or Chemistry?

Thanks :)

Have you had even regular high school level physics and chemistry (not necessarily AP or IB versions)?

The college courses in physics and chemistry often recommend a prerequisite of high school physics and chemistry. If you do not have that, you may have to work somewhat harder in college physics and chemistry.

Yeah I have completed high school physics and chemistry.

But I’ll have to revise because it’ll be around 2+ years since I’ll have given my high school examination (when I begin university).

Thanks for that reply. :)
