So I will be attending Boston University in the fall for biomedical engineering (yay!!) and I was wondering what laptops are best for running applications such as autocad and matlab. I have a personal laptop at home, but its too large to carry back and forth to class every day, so I just need a strong enough computer without much else. I've looked into the Lenovo T410 which seems nice, but I want to keep my options open. ALso, price is not very important but preferibly under $1500. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey,

Matlab is not really that demanding. I remember I was doing biomedical imaging during my 4th year and I did all of my matlab image processing on my netbook (acer d150)

Thanks! I guess I’m looking for a laptop thats versatile enough for all my classes. I don’t want to deal with having a bunch of netbooks and laptops for various tasks
