well, can someone explain to me can you do with this if you get a masters degree and what are the job opportunities,I know this is a wide major that you can do a lot of stuff with it, but whenever some one asks me what do you want to study, I tell them biomedical engineer, They tell me "oh so you are going to fix and sell hospital equipments"and I get let down by the way they say it.But when I found out about this major I thought there is more to it like stem cell research and engineering or nanotechnology or creating artificial organs and tissue engineering.but everybody around me tells me that its all doing and fixing, hospital equipments.
So am I looking in to a wrong major and should be looking at another one(if so what is the major i want to do)?if not please educate me more in biomedical engineering.

No, the people you talk to don’t know what biomedical engineering is. Their response is equivalent to them asking an electrical engineering major to change a hard to reach light-bulb.

You do realize that there /are/ indeed bme’s who work in hospitals to do that… AND those who sell hospitals medical devices, right?

AKA, op ignore vladenschlutte’s response.

You are right though- there’s a ton you can go into in the bme field. I’ve done stem cell research myself. It’s a huge field.

Before people beat me to it, a lot of people on here are going to say 'major in mechE or EE if you want to go into bme. And I agree with them. It’s part of the reason I’m now a EE major.

First of all, I think its AMAZING you are going into biomedical engineering( its my dream job ). Dont be discouraged! Maybe this link will help you :D

I know a guy who is a biomedical engineering major at a huge university in a big city and is a fifth-year senior…and has never had an internship because nobody knew what to do with him. So, maybe it’s one of those graduate-degree things.

Johnson181, I was specifically referring to fixing hospital equipment, which is what a technician does, and the implication that he can only fix or sell equipment and not any of those other fields he mentioned.

thanks all for reassuring me into going into this lovely major and I know what you meant vladenschlutte
