What is the acceptance rate for BME?
How is the admission process differ for BME than other majors due the increased selectivity?
How important are SAT 2 to the application? Could a student get into BME without them?
Is the program cutthroat?
Why is JHU BME the number program in the world?
Barring test scores, ec’s, recs and essays, how could an individual improve their chances and portray their true self?
I know this is long I’m just worried as I’m not particularly qualified for JHU BME and I’m worried I won’t get in.
- Quantitatively guessing the acceptance rate is probably between 5-8%
- First students must be admitted into the school before being admitted into the BME department. There are two rounds, and the directors say usually about 1/3 of the kids who get into Hopkins applying to the BME program will actually get accepted to the program. So you could just divide the total acceptance rate by 3 but they usually fill a lot more of the class ED.
- School doesn't require them but nearly all BME students generally have 800 Math 2 and 750+ for any of the sciences.
- No not cutthroat but very hard working...
- A lot of funding, connection to the medical school, state of the art classes such as design team, excellent facilities, amazing recruiters, world class professors
- School follows the holistic approach and every student is very diverse so don't stick to the whole stereotypical bookworm type. Better to show you're truly involved with a few important things; also, exposure to clinical medicine or bench top research is a plus (I think most BMEs had some sort of summer research or medical focused program).
u can pm any specific questions : )
