I really want to get into Biomed in UTA. What are my chances? GPA(raw): 3.89. Weighted: 5.02/6.0. ACT: 33 (one try). Lots of AP. Class rank 30/416. State qualifier for varsity swimming. Extended stay abroad (most of my life). Just finished the application.

Where are you from?

If you’re in-state then you’ll probably receive auto-admission.

Regardless, I think you’re a qualified candidate. Write good essays.

Oh, I am in-state (from Dallas). My English teacher checked my essays and told me they are pretty good. I submitted them anyway.
I don’t think I will get auto admission. I am in top 7.21% and not 7%. Missed it by “1” position. No regrets, but I should have spent a little more time studying than hanging out with friends. :-(

Btw, I am more concerned about getting into Biomed than getting into UTA. I think I have a fair shot at UTA (but you never know!); my 2nd choice is Biology. I am thinking of applying to Wash U, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and Case Western. I believe I got fair chance of getting accepted in one or two of them. But I don’t think my parents can afford it, so I am going to apply to A&M as well. Any other suggestion? I want Biomed so badly!

They will admit you based on your ACT.

Thanks, texaspg! I will buy you a lunch (Don’t worry, I work) when I get my acceptance! :-)

Did you apply yet? UT admitting does not guarantee a major of your choice. If they are going to admit you, you should probably hear soon.

Yeah, I sent my application last week and I just checked, they have everything…I keep my fingers crossed. How long does it take for UTA to get back with its decision?

Mid Feb to March 2014 for non Auto Admit.
