I plan to major in Biomedical Engineering.

Here are some background info:

My SAT scores (I'm going to be a sophomore this coming school year): 1800s-2000s
I take ALL advanced classes (Well all advanced classes my school offers)
I really want to go to school in NYC (probably not the best place since I heard most of the science majors go to cali?).

If you guys need any more information, just comment and I'll see what I can do. Yeah it's pretty young to be discussing this, but I have really high expectation parents.

The big name bme places are probably Hopkins, Wash U and Duke, but those seem like reaches for your SAT. Bme almost exclusively requires a graduate degree, so keep that in mind.

Can I just say… Both of you gave great suggestions.
But I kind of need to go to school in NYC. I really don’t want to go anywhere far (more than a hour drive) from NYC.

What about Tufts? It’s more than an our from NYC…but not too far or expensive to get to with the trains.

And darlin, your going to be a sophomore. You shouldn’t worry too too much yet. Yes, you should definitely be thinking about it. But use this year to really figure out what you would like to have in a college, and to start preparing for the SAT or ACT, i.e. take PSAT and PLAN, see what happens.

Work hard this year, but just start preparing and getting organized, but there is no need to worry yet.

I know parents can be really harsh and have high expecations, so you should try sitting down with them, have a plan for your sophomore and junior year. Talk to them about how you need to prepare this year, test next year. Tell them that this year is meant for you to focus on really keeping your grades consistent.

If your reasonable, they might back off. Having a plan always helps, at least with mine.
