I keep hearing that Princeton is better than Yale for science, but as far as biomedical research, does Princeton even have a medical center? I know that Yale does. How would biomedical research compare at these two schools?

bump.........

Uhm. I dunno so much about biomedical, but as far as molecular biology goes, Princeton's department is really really good. I'm trying to get an internship in a protein structure lab this summer, and it's one of the most successful in the country. There's a lot of groundbreaking research here, and the professors are very willing to let students work in the lab, so a lot of students have several papers published by the time they start working on their senior thesis. Just thinking back on my molbio course this semester, all the big research projects were either done here, at Harvard, or at Berkeley, so I wouldn't think Yale's that great for bio stuff. We do have a medical center, and several students on campus are EMTs, but I don't know if the school actually works with the medical center on research. I'm a freshman in MechE hoping to go to grad school for BiomedE, and I picked Princeton over several schools that actually have established BiomedE programs (Stanford, Duke). I'm not regretting it one bit.

I'd like to know more about this too... thanks dm15. Does anyone else know?

Does princeton have a biomedical engineering department....I can not seem to find any information about any biomedical related studies at all on their website and would love any clarification at all.

i need to know, too. thx to anybody who has some answer.

Princeton does not have a Biomedical Engineering department. You can major in Chemical or Mechanical or whichever larger area of Engineering and do a Bioengineering certificate. In my opinion, this is better than doing an undergraduate degree on solely Biomedical because it exposes you to a wider range of topics, but as I mentioned, I'm planning on going to graduate school and focusing in on Biomedical there. If you want to go directly into industry after undergrad, then you might want to look at some other school that has an actual Biomedical Engineering department.
