Biomedical research! What major and college?

I am a junior wanting to become a biomedical researcher. I am very dedicate and motivated. I am certain that i want to be a researcher.
The only thing is that I'm not sure what I need to major in. I am thinking Bio-Engineering. But I don't like the "medical instrument" aspect of it. I like the biology and chemistry part.. the molecular part...

I guess bio-e is just as fine... I haven't taken any of the courses so I might not know enough about it.

I am thinking of JHU, Rice, Stanford, Harvard.

Can someone give me any advice? Do I have the right major in mind? College?

What should I be doing to prep for admission next year?

Here are 27 that do what you want; perhaps you might like a few  :

PhDs and Doctoral Degrees:

@woohoo, duke and penn should be on your list, mit and caltech are also very strong in biology research in general.

Penn has a molecular life sciences program you might be interested in (Vagelos scholars or something). iirc, you double major in chem and bio (different from Vagelos LSM which is life sciences + business)

I agree with the above suggestions and would add Emory as a school comparable in feel and biomedical science but slightly less selective.

Reaches are easy to pick out, however. Do you have a good safety that you can definitely afford? Depending on your state, you may have an excellent in-state public as an option (e.g. Pitt).

Thanks everyone!!

I appreciate your help :)

I am also considering the University of Washington, Seattle. There are known for their research in Washington. It is one of my “safe” options.
