BIOMI 2900 or BIOAP 3110

so im gonna be a freshman and am wondering whether i ought to take microbiology or intro to animal physiology 1st semester. I want to start off a little easy. Any thoughts from current/past bio majors?

I wasn’t a bio major…but I took both of those courses. I’d recommend you start with microbio. Microbio was a lot of fun and wasn’t overly difficult.

I found BIOAP 3110 to very interesting and worthwhile, but it was challenging and would be better to take after you’ve adjusted to Cornell.

are these some of the new courses they want first years to take? I know they have changed some courses, like BioEE2780, so they cover material a bit differently and will be intended for freshmen.

I have not found a comprehensive list of exactly what courses these are online. the major requirements on the undergraduate biology office website still list the old intro bio courses. if anyone knows where this new info is I would like to check it out.

^^good point…I completely forgot they’re changing the bio curriculum!

humpty dumpty bumpty

Take Bio290. It’s a very easy course to get an A in and relatively easy to get an A+ in.

OK, I guess I was a little confused about the evolution stuff. anyway, although it doesn’t answer the OP’s questions, here is the info about the new format for first year biology.

edit: actually, I wasn’t totally wrong about evolution. a lot of stuff is different. the bio office sent out a very exciting little email explaining everything.
