Bioresource and agricultural engineering major

Hi I’d love to know if bioresource and agricultural engineerig major is pretty hard to get into. I have a 3.77 csu gpa and 3.4 cal poly gpa with 1220 SAT ( Math+cr) but the sat is most likely going to go up to 1300 when i take it in October. Any thoughts?

The average for the College of Engineering this past year was a GPA of 4.08 and an SAT of 1388. The numbers speak for themselves. You’ll have to do really well on the SAT (at least 1400). Try the ACT as well, if possible. If you’re set on CP, apply Early Decision.

Good Luck!

The bioresource and agricultural engineering major is actually under the college of agriculture. I think that college is a bit easier to get into than the college of engineering so you may have a higher chance. Good luck!

^Whoops, I didn’t know that! I apologize for presenting wrong information. In that case, you have a better chance. No matter what though, strive for a superb SAT/ACT score. Studying for the tests really does work!

Thanks guys!! Anyone else???

So do i have a chance with my stats if i raise my sat score above 1300?

Take the ACT …Cal Poly prefers it

Either SAT or ACT will do. Submit whichever one is better by using a comparison chart: [SAT-ACT Conversion chart](http://teachers.sduhsd.k12.ca.us/lccounseling/sat-act_conversion_chart.htm)

A 1300 would be approximently a 29-30 on ACT. I think you would have a good chance with those numbers. Your GPA is a bit low, but a 1300 may make up for it.

Thank you agriculture engineering isn’t selective that much is it

My son will be a freshman this fall in the BRAE program ~

HS GPA 3.3
SAT 1700
ACT 24

21+ hours working this year in major applied
10+ hours weekly in activity outside classroom
(questions that are asked on application)

He did attend a college prep HS (couldn’t even get a 4.0 with A-'s, guess the grade scale would be considered unweighted?). I think his HS had a lot to do with his acceptance with what would be considered average stats and that he has been working in the field he wants to study.

Good luck :)

Oh nice! Hmm i don’t really have any working experience with the major that im considering… Do you think i have a chance?

Of course you have a chance :)

I think it is true that the College of Agriculture (Food & Environmental Sciences) doesn’t have as many applicants as the others, so the chances of being admitted are better.

If Agriculture is of interest to you, CP SLO is one of the best places to be (and the jobs in Agriculture are growing, everyone has to eat right?)

Haha thats true! ( i love food) thank you for your informations i appreciate it! CP SLO is definitely one of the colleges that im considering. Go brag!!

Can anyone else who majors in BRAE post their stats???
