I have been planning on majoring in environmental engineering but I recently stumbled upon my schools biosystems program and I really like the looks of it. It is very similar to environmental and it seems like you can work in the environmental field with either major. I know neither of these are your "mainstream engineering majors" but does anyone know how job prospects are? Big differences between environmental and biosystems? I go to Clemson and it is an ABET accredited program.

Anyone???

Biosystems sounds like it’s a little more narrow. Environmental includes all biotic and abiotic factors while biosystems sounds like it would just cover living populations. Do you have more specific information about the two programs? Direct links to the department websites would be helpful.

i don’t know anything about biosystems engineering but i’ve just graduated form environmental. The job prospects are great, pretty much everyone who is looking got a job. Can you do groundwater / soil remediation with biosystems? Thats were most environmental engineering grads work.

That’s pretty much an overview of the majors at Clemson

Am a final year student of biosystems engineering, and to me it is very true Biosystems Engineers have got alot to do with the environment, especially by looking at at renewable energy sources,
