Hello fellow BIOTAP members. I thought this thread would be a good place to get to know one another. I have done the regular roommate search on the UMass Spire site, however, no one in BIOTAP comes up for potential roommates. Here new BIOTAP members can leave messages about themselves: what they like, hobbies, preferences for living situations.
To post, you do need to get a username and password. However, I have been using this site for a while now. It was recommended to me by one of the professors at Assumption college, and I think it is a very safe and clean site. Hopefully, maybe some of us can find someone whom we would like to room with

I hope to hear from some other members soon. Here is some stuff about me.

My name is Claire S. You can find me on the list at the NSO page under RLO students at the side. I like Alpine Skiing, and I love the cold. So a cool room temp is a must for me. I am not very messy, however during finals and other stressful times, I can't promise anything.. I like trying new things, and I am open minded.

Fun fact: I am Blood type AB+ (Biggest recipient!)

Hopefully a lot of people post here because I’m really interested in getting to know everyone in BioTAP.

I’m Allison. I come from a small town in central Massachusetts, so I want to experience new things. I’m generally happy and friendly. I try to deal with problems right away but I hate conflict. I am very serious about schoolwork, so I want a roommate who can deal with quiet study time, but I also like to have fun and party. I love music; some of my favorites are Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles.

I’m going to the June 29-July 1 orientation session. Is anyone else?

Hii. My name is Kayla, and I am from Las Vegas, NV. I am semi neat and semi messy; I guess you could say I’m in between. I love love love music, mainly 60s and 70s. I’m down with Neil Young and The Beatles mostly, but I have a lot of favorites.

I like to go out, and I definitely like to have a good time. I haven’t been a big person on studying over the years, but I know now that I’ll have to step it up so I will need quiet time for studying. I’m very mellow and most people refer to me as being “chill”.

I’ll be at the June 25th through the 27th orientation.

Hey, I’m Chris, and I’m from eastern MA. I can be kind of messy, but I’ll clean everything right up if there’s a problem. I like to take life as it comes, and like two people so far, I love music. I’ll listen to just about anything that’s good. I also like to unwind with video games, so I’ll be bringing some of what I have. One thing in particular: I need ~9 hours of good sleep to function. I don’t sleep especially lightly, but I’d appreciate a roommate who can keep the noise down when I’m trying to rest.

Is anyone else going to the July 13-15 orientation?

Hey everyone!
My name is Vanessa and I’m from Fitchburg MA. I’m majoring in biochemistry & molecular biology. My room can be kind of messy at times, but I have no problem with keeping it organized. I take my school work very seriously but I also know how to have fun and I love to go to parties once in a while. I am a smoker, but I won’t do it in the room or around people who don’t like it…I’ll take it outside. I love to listen to music and will listen to pretty much anything. I’m going to the June 15th-17th orientation.

Hey guys! I’m Shilpa, I’m from a fairly small town in Massachusetts as well. I can’t wait to get out and meet new people, which I love doing :). I’m going for pre-med, but I’m not exactly sure what I’d like to major in. I’m looking at bio and psych, but I’ll most likely end up doing bio since I am in biotap. I’m outgoing and happy most of the time, and I love to have a good time. I’m serious about schoolwork as well as Allison mentioned (we have a lot in common!). I do study whenever I have a test/quiz etc and I need for it to be quiet when I’m studying.

I lovee music as a few other people on here have said. I’m a huge fan of oldies and classic rock. The beatles are my favorite band and apparently everyone im living with has good taste :). Oh and I’m going to the orientation on June 25th-27th.

Shilpa, we certainly do. If you (or anyone else) want to talk, my e-mail is mentalpancake@comcast.net.

My name is Dinah, and I’m from Sharon, MA. I would consider myself an organized person. I take studying seriously, but i love going to parties once in a while. I love different cultures and can speak a few different languages. (Russian and Spanish) I plan to major in chemical engineering, but I’m going for premed. I also love all types of music, although i listen mostly to hip hop and I am going to orientation July 9-11.
oh and i’m not a morning person (which is why i can’t wait to not have to wake up at 6 in the morning)

Oh, I seem to have forgotten about my sleep schedule, which is obviously important to mention. As long as I’m on a schedule where I get 7-8 hours a night and go to bed and wake up at around the same time every day, it doesn’t really matter when I’m awake or asleep; it will really all depend on my class schedule and other activities. Plus, with all of us being in BioTAP, I think we’ll all have fairly similar class schedules so that we’ll probably have similar sleep schedules anyway.

My name is Zach. I’m from Pepperell, MA and, like the trend in here seems to be going, I take my studies pretty seriously too. Organization-wise, I like things clean, but I haven’t entered compulsion-ville yet. I’m going for PreMed too, so we’ll be in a lot of the same classes, and I’m going to be an Anthropology major (probably with concentrations in Biological Anthropology considering I’m in BIOTAP). Sleepwise, I can get up when I have to, but I’ll make up for it later by sleeping in. When I’m pretend studying (trying to trick myself into thinking I’m doing work) I’ll listen to music, but when I actually need to focus, I’ll do so quietly. I’m definitely not a fussy roommate. I’m also into video games; I’m not an insane gamer, but I’ll probably be bringing my 360. Oh, and when House is on, nobody else exists :-)

Feel free to email/IM me if you want to talk more

Well, everyone is saying their sleep patterns, study habits, etc, so I probably should too.
I like my sleep. As long as I get enough sleep, I can be a morning person. If i have a nap in the afternoon, I’m wide awake until midnight. I do take my studying seriously, but when I study I listen to soft music in languages that I don’t understand or with no words, (so I don’t get distracted by the words in the song). I really dont like listening to rap. Like Zach, I’m a non-obsessive gamer, so my PS2 will be coming with me. That usually happens at night after homework, if there is nothing to do.
Other than majoring in Bio, I’m also majoring in music. I can play piano, violin, and guitar.

Hey everyone, I’m Sonal. I’m from a really small and kinda boring town in CT, called East Lyme. Like most everyone else said, I’m pretty serious about school, but I do like to have fun and hang out with friends, go to movies etc. I’m not really a messy person, but when I have a lot to do, my room pretty much looks like a tornado. Everyone’s been mentioning sleep, so I guess I should too. I usually do okay with little sleep, but 8 hours is good. Yeah, so really looking forward to meeting all of you and getting to know you. Anybody else going to the July 6-8th orientation???

Hey everyone,
My name’s Colleen and I’m from Woburn. It’s about 10 minutes north of Boston (if you’ve heard of the movie a Civil Action with John Travolta, it takes place in my hometown). I really like to stay active and I’m not too particular in what I’m looking for in a roommate. I’m just looking for someone that knows their limits and is more interested in school than partying. I’m not a big drinker myself, but I’m totally fine with having it around me. I don’t smoke. I like listening to all different types of music from alternative to classic rock to country. Other than bio, I’m really interested in Spanish and Psychology. I’m used to being really busy but sometimes I still get stressed out easily. I don’t know what to say about my sleeping habits because they just flow with whatever my schedule is.

I really look forward to meeting all of your and I’ll be at the June 8-10th orientation. :)

Hi, I’m Deanna and I’m from Dudley, MA. My major is biochemistry & molecular biology. I’m well organized, but when I’m busy that all goes to downhill. I’m a pretty active person and I love to run. I’ve done cross country and track since I was a freshman. When it comes to music, my taste ranges from Led Zeppelin to Britney Spears and eveything in between. I’m a pretty serious student. I like to have fun, but I don’t drink. As long as a get about 8 hours of sleep I’m good, but I don’t like to sleep later than 9.00.

I’m going to the June 11-13 Orientation and I’m looking forward to BioTap!

Hey Deanna…that’s cool that you do cross country. I tried that for a week, but it was way too much for me. We seem to have a lot in common…I don’t drink either..lol…i was hoping to find someone who didn’t in this program :)…and i am totally the same way about the whole organization thing when i’m busy…If you want..my e-mail is sonu0890■■■■■■.com …

^ I don’t think that many people will drink. I mean, occasionally I drink a little bit and some other people in the program may be the same, but I doubt we’ll have many binge drinkers, just because this is a group of really serious students who don’t want to risk their futures for one night of fun.
