Hi my name is Jessica and I am from Fall River, Mass. I play soccer almost all year long and I run track in the Winter and Spring for my high school. I love to run but javelin is my best event and has been for four years. I also love to play paintball. As you can tell sports are a big part of my life and I plan to either continue with track or join the crew team at UMass. Sports keep me motivated. I also like to play video games but, like most other people have said, im not obsessed. I take school serious (I think its safe to say we all do) and I get a little crazy around finals. I wont leave my belongings all over the place but I am by no means an organized person. As long as none of my stuff gets moved around I can always tell you where something is. I dont drink and I dont smoke but I do like to have fun. I have some friends who will also be attending UMass in the Fall so it should be fun and I certainly cant wait!!

I’m going to the June 29th orientation too. I am from Brookline, which is right outside of Boston. I need at least 7 hours of sleep, but I’m not picky about when. I’m a serious student, but I definitely like to have fun too. I am not a smoker, but I do drink occasionally. I listen to all kinds of music and background noise doesn’t really bother me when I’m studying. I wanna do well in my classes but have fun too.

Hey, my name is Tal and I come from Lexington, MA. I’m kind of messy, but not like “throw everything on floor,” things just pile up over time. If that’s a problem, just give me a little reminder and I’ll clean up. I wasn’t too serious about studying in high school, especially near the end of senior year but I will be more serious here, and like just about everyone need quiet (or near quiet) to study. I sleep sporadically, whenever I can, but am almost never awake enough to be conscious in the morning. I’m pretty into gaming, but not TOO much. I’m also pretty into anime, which I will sporadically try to show whoever ends up being my roommate. I’m also a very, very extreme germophobe… As in I carry around paper towels as to not touch doors. Thought I should mention that. As for music, I pretty much like anything except REALLY heavy metal and anything made in the last 6-8 years. Led Zeppelin and Guns N’ Roses are awesome. I’m going to the June 29 - July 1st orientation. Also, where can we find the housing profiles Patrick mentioned in the email?

Bailey and Tal, I hope to meet you at orientation! :)

So I have a question for everyone. Biotap is in the Orchard Hill residential area right?

yes. in dickinson hall.

Heyy I’m Claudine and I’m from Weymouth - a small town outside of Boston. I want to major in biochem, and maybe double major in biochem and psychology, and go on to med school. I played volleyball in hs and will probably join a club team next year. I also dance and want to pursue that while at Amherst. I’m pretty serious when it comes to school, but I try not to let it take over my life. I don’t smoke or drink, but I don’t mind having alcohol around me as long as ppl can handle it. My sleep schedule is a bit crazy and unpredictable - it really depends on what’s going on in my life at the time. However, if you need sleep, I’m not one to get in your way. I’m a fairly organized person, but sometimes I leave clothes lying around, and around finals I can be kind of a mess, but I’m working on it :). I like to listen to music while I’m studying (I listen to anything from alternative to country), but I use headphones and I don’t play it too loudly. Anyway, I can’t wat for next fall, and as Bailey said, I want to do well in my classes but I want to have fun too!

Hi Claudine. That’s cool I played volleyball too for a while and really loved it until I got injured and couldn’t play anymore. But I’m a dancer too; what kind of dance do you do?

Hey Tal,
We seem to have some stuff in common, I’m into anime too, what kind of stuff do you watch? I’ve also been germ-cautious ever since AP Bio last year. We can’t be roommates obviously, but if you wanna talk my IM is CepheiSupernova

wats up my name’s Rachel and I’m from Plymouth MA…love to party and have an incredible talent to both party and do well in school simutaneously so a room mate whos laid back like me would be ideal…i’m not hard to get along with though and im not disruptive to those who would rather go to sleep early… i require little sleep to function as long as i have coffee in the morning. i dont sleep very late…usually till like 9 or 10 on a weekend or any day im not working. im a very hard worker. i waitress at Uno’s in plymouth. did really good in school all my life. but i do like to chill out whenever possible. im a firm believer that if you have to hang out with your friends and be an actually human being every single day instead of being a book worm even if it means a little extra cram time later. i love comedy…most of you probably know comedy central if you have cable (hopefully most of you do or you’re missing out on something big here). south park, reno 911, dave chappelle (oh yeah and i suck at spelling so i just dont even bother trying to get chappelle right), family guy…etc. get along with people with a good sense of humor the best. love music im lovin the tastes in here…zep, floyd, beatles…hell yeah! like rap too…lil wayne esp. well i’ve rambled on about myself enough..going to the june 18-20 orientation.

so is anyone in biotap not from the US???

hey Claire.
my aim is tljyc. i haven’t had much time to watch stuff recently, which is sad so i’m looking for suggestions. got any? i look forward to meeting all of you. and peeps coming to the 29-1 orientation, we should try and meet up.

^ I agree. We should set up a time and place during orientation, or we should tell each other what we’re going to be wearing one of the days or something.

Also, this is very important to me. When I posted my first description, I mentioned that I’m “sort of” into gaming. I lied. I am very into gaming, and I’m pretty sure others lied too >_<. So, out with it. Who else lied? Also, who’s bringing a wii with Super Smash Brothers Brawl? Oh yea, and I sleep till noon when I can.

So yea… I lied too. PS2=Awesome Hugs console

Hello! My name is Tara, and I come from a fairly large town known as Framingham. First: I do not drink or smoke, nor do I plan on doing either. At the same time, I do not want a roommate who does either, and I will not be anyones babysitter.
I’m pretty down to earth and I’m easy to get along with. I enjoy a lot of the simple things in life. I have two dogs, who are the shining stars in my life. I like plants, and have a pet venus fly trap. I had two mice, have an eel and a lot of fish. In short; I love animals.
I love learning, especially science. I buy and read a lot of science books, mostly chemistry and biology. As of right now, my major is biology, but I might double major in bio and chem, or possibly prevet. With a minor in latin or greek history. I like libraries.
I love music, mostly oldies and some classic rock. I also have a liking for celtic music… little weird yeah. But I can barely find time to listen to music anyways.
I enjoy video games, especially my wii.
I don’t really know anything else to say, but if you want to know more just ask!

Sorry for writing a novel. And I’ll be at the june 8-10 orientation.

You guys are pretty silly…

anyway, like Tal, I’m from Lexington, MA. Tal, you probably wouldn’t know me though, since I actually graduated high school a couple years ago.. (long story). I’m into video games too, and I might bring my Wii + Brawl. I love music, and will probably at least minor in it (I play piano and violin). Consequently my favorite music is classical and jazz, but I do occasionally dabble in pop music.

I’m pretty messy, but if it annoys my roommate I could definitely change that. Ideally I like at least 8 hours of sleep, but since I’m so much of a night owl and hate mornings, this usually doesn’t happen, and I end up zombie-like most of the time. I will try to fix this…

oh and I’m going to the June 29th orientation.

lol I just saw Tal’s thing about sleeping till noon. Sorry dude, but I’ve got you beat, I sleep till like 2 when I can :P

I actually only get like 8 - 12 hours of sleep (heh, only 12), when I sleep a long time. (I.E. go to bed at like, 5 AM, but if that bugs my roommate I’ll go to sleep earlier.) And on Monday, I woke up at 4 pm =P. So what’s your name by the way? Also, look forward to meeting you. Oh, and you are going down. I challenge you to a game of brawl as soon as possible. And I will win (I hope).

uhm, for some reason it’s saying I’m not logged in as me, so I can’t edit my previous post. So anyway, what year did you graduate?

is anyone else going to the June 18-20 orientation??

My name is Alexa, and I’m from Milton (little suburb/town just outside Boston). And I already signed up for housing with no roommate requested… if anyone else did/does, you’ll probably get me! yay! hope we get along…

But that’s okay, because I do get along with most people. I’m quiet, organized, super-serious student; like to read sci-fi/fantasy and write poetry in spare time (no lie, I’m from the Poetry Club at my high school, looking for a UMass club to replace it). Like Tara, I enjoy the simple things in life… and keep houseplants and a tiny Siamese fighting fish, who I hope to bring to college with me. I have grown up without a TV, and just as happy without, thanks. Music – okay, I like folk (Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen… Bob Dylan, anyone?), also classical, jazz, and new age/acoustic stuff. Perfectly fine if you don’t agree, I use headphones.

But I won’t try to force my roommate into that model. If I end up with a party-person, great, maybe you can teach me to party! I’m quiet myself, but I go with the flow. All I ask is about 7-1/2 hrs sleep a night, quiet/music without words to study, and tolerance for my slightly geeky nature. Cool? I believe everyone is strange in some way, and we’d all be happier if we let it be known and accepted each other.
