My Mid's 18th birthday is this week...any ideas for a bakery that would send her a cake? Thanks for the help.

I know in year's past you could get one from the cafeteria sent, but I'm not sure on outside the Academy. I'd look into Bruce's in Great Neck though, they make a pretty good one.

Call 516.773.5308 They bake wonderful birthday cakes (I requested chocolate naturally) at the academy & deliver it to your Mid for $18.00. They do not take Visa. They have you send a check instead. Several of us had done this last year and there were some happy kids up there because they got to share.

Happy 18th Birthday Juliemrn's Plebe!!

Thanks...I knew that someone on this list would have had experience with this and would be happy to pass it along!

You know a bakery has to be way cool to accept a check in the mail for a cake. That type of trust just doesn't happen much any more in the world.

I hope your Plebe enjoy's her cake. Happy Birthday young lady!

Well, the number that Jamzmom gave me is for Delano Hall..."Nana Services." No...I'm not making that up! The nice woman that answered said that they make a choc w/ choc. icing cake and will present it at my daughter's table at lunch...then they all sing "Happy Birthday!" She said that it usually says just HB, but that she would try and get it to say Happy 18th Birthday for my girl!!

I was so pleased about how much they care about our kids. When I asked what the "nana" in Nana Services stood for, she said that it was an acronym for something to do with Alaska but that now it didn't stand for anything...I told her that I think it's appropriate that it stands for the service that takes "extra-special" care of our kids, just like a kindly grandma would. Of course I didn't tell her the grandma part!

I highly recommend this service to anyone whose Mid has a birthday while at school. I'm thrilled that someone will be able to sing to my daughter on her special day! Thanks Jamzmom!

I've posted close to 2000 times here. 1500 of them were trying to explain to everyone that chocolate is the answer to life. :D I can probably promise 100% that the cake with say "Happy "18th" Birthday". Those ladies up there are too sweet & know what we Moms go through in missing special occassions. For Valentines' Day, think about sending some lovely things from lazars chocolate. They too, are awesome folks. Hand deliver to the academy the same day & their product is uh.... how shall I think of the words.... TO DIE FOR! http://www.lazarschocolate.com/

KP2001, I'm bound & determined to get to Bruce's next visit. You're the second person that has said to go there. I'm going to have myself modified before going. I want a cow's four stomachs so I can hit Lazar's chocolates, Deli on the Green & Bruce's all in a two hour time frame. :D

Jamzmom, Why would anyone have to explain something so readily apparent?

Oh yeah, bruce's is awesome.

opps, double post, I was SO excited.

To bring you up to date.....today is my daughter's birthday and she got the cake at lunch and was so surprised! I was able to get another Mid to take a few pictures for me and this cake is really quite big! All the plebes in 4th co. stood up together and came over to her table and sang HB to her...she's got the biggest grin on her face! She wrote me this afternoon to tell me how her day started with her deck singing HB to her this morning! Then the quiz in one class was canceled and she got her physics test from yesterday back and she got 100%!! She was so excited and has had such a great day! Thanks for the great advice and the good wishes from several of the writers on this list.....I can't thank you enough.
