Hey all, Cell Bio major here. This quarter, I’m taking BIS 103 (with Hilt) and 104 (Privalski), as well as ECS 30 (Hamann) and CHN 113. I thought this was going to be pretty doable, and so far while it does seem like a lot of work, it doesn’t seem unmanageable … but then again it’s only the second week of class.

But then I mentioned this schedule to an (already graduated) Biotech major who also took ECS 30 (but w/ a different professor) and he said that this was a bad idea … according to him, 103 and 104 are straight-up memorization and a lot of it; and ECS 30 was hard. So is this schedule really that bad, or am I worrying about nothing? (“Really that bad” = requires 35+ hours of study a week to get B’s and above)

I took Hilt for 102 last quarter, and he is a HARSH grader, so I’m kind of worried about 103, but I figured at least now I know how to study for his class; and as for ECS 30, well, I have some previous programming experience, but it’s not formal or anything. But now I’m beginning to get scared … plus 104 does have a LOT of information, and CHN … don’t get me started on the amount of homework in that class.

Any advice, anecdotes, or whatever are greatly appreciated!
