So I am an Accounting major in NC going into my senior year. I attended two summer leadership conferences this summer with GT and BDO, and it went pretty well. I meshed well with the recruiters, the staff, and a few partners. The thing is, I want to work in Chicago, not Charlotte. I let them know that, and they connected me with the Chicago area recruiters. Now that the recruiting season is coming around, I'm hoping to land an internship with either one of them, hopefully in the Chicago office. Both firms told me to disclose that when I interview here. So........their internships are both in the Spring, not the summer, and I would have to take off the Spring semester to work. I'm already a semester behind, and this would put me back a year, but I think its a necessary sacrifice. On top of that, I just signed a year long lease for an apartment, so unless I could find someone to take over the lease, I would be paying rent on two apartments next semester. I guess I don't really have a particular question, I just needed to rant for a bit and get some advice, excluding annoying "you capitalized this but not this" and "your a high gpa/ low IQ" a** holiness. Other than that, all constructive comments are welcome.

I agree with you that as far as being behind in school goes it seems like a reasonable sacrifice. the school will always be there, the internship opportunity may not. the only thing is the paying for two apartments. i guess if you have the financial resources go for it. but if money is tight for you, you may not have a choice

Yeah, I don’t know if they would be willing to offer me an internship here in Charlotte so I wouldn’t have to worry about that, but my recruiter told me that they try to place interns in the office they hope to work in, so that wouldn’t do me much good.
