Bit of a stupid question...

I've been in the British school system all my life, and I'm hoping to get into an American Ivy League school, so I'm wondering at what age do Americans enter the school system?

I was in the 1st grade at the age of 5, and so I'm currently 14 in the 10th grade. I've seen posts where they say that people are a few years ahead of me and in the same grade, and I'm starting to feel a bit short-changed lol.

9th grade 2008-2009
-14 to 15

10th grade 2009-2010
-15 to 16

1st grade
-6 to 7 (I think…but I was definitely not 4…)

wow that sucks for me.

Especially with my birthday in early August :/

Shouldn’t you be 13?

Edit:
How many years of schooling do you have? According to this you should have 13 years, and graduate when you are 17/18

^ Woops, messed up original post.
