It says on the departament website that if you start with a different major within the College of Letters & Sciences, you cannot switch to any of the economics majors. What confuses me is whether or not this counts for any of the PRE-majors. If I started with pre-psych or pre-poly sci, then decided they weren't for me and I wanted to do pre-econ, would that switch be an impossibility?

It's possible

But how difficult is it to switch since it's an impacted major?

Well it doesn't really matter, because the pre-bizecon aren't in the major yet. They still need to apply and achieve a primary score of 3.3 (primary score is like a GPA which weighs pre-major classes and others more; so it's close to a 3.3 GPA but not necessarily).

I got a quick question...Is econ1 required/recommended for econ2?

Nope.

to answer your question directly, no it does not apply to pre-majors. you can come in pre-anything and switch to pre-bizecon no sweat. the "impacted" aspect of biz-econ has no effect on getting into the pre-major. they let as many people as they want into pre-bizecon...which is why it's competitive in the first place. the "impacted" aspect comes into play because you need to attain a certain pre-req GPA to actually get into biz-econ from pre-bizecon, and you're fighting other people for those limited spots.
