Bizecon with these Pre Req grades?

Hi,
I'm sophomore and pre-bizecon student (hoping to minor in accounting). My question is how hard it is to get into the major. I've read up on so many topic about how there is a minimum gpa and stuff but did any one close to this stats ever got in?? Should I think about changing my major?

In EVERY pre req I got B+. (there is a chance that I might get B- in one this quarter; then, I'll be done with all pre reqs)
Overall, gpa is 3.66 (which will probably drop to 3.5 this quarter, unfortunately)

What's your advice? Should I start thinking about other options?? I'm very worried.

Thanks. I'll appreciate any insight. I don't want to waste another quarter on this if there is no hope.

Advice is to use the Biz Econ Primary score calculator which TELLS YOU YOURSELF if you got it.

I’m sure you got in though. Good pre-req grades.

I checked out the primary score. But I am worried about the “based on competition” line in the website.

Don’t worry, you’ll get in with the matching GPA. It’s not crazy like Haas

That whole based on competition thing is just thrown in there as a way to save their ass in case they don’t admit you by accident or something. Don’t worry, if you have the primary score > 3.3 and everything else is checked off (all pre-reqs, under min unit cap, etc), then you will be in.

Thanks… but I don’t think it’s the same for Accounting minor, right? The requirements are higher and also more people apply and get rejected.

No, same thing.

I was in you shoes last year, at least with the accounting minor. The wording on the website and such makes it seem as if a bunch of faculty from Anderson gather around some table on a Saturday morning and only accept those with a GPA greater than 3.75 or something. WRONG!

I had a discussion with Rachel Saar when I turned my application in in the spring and basically asked exactly how the approval process went down. In reality, Rachel Saar, the director of the accounting program, looks at your application to makes sure you’ve completed everything and have met the requirements, then admits you to the minor.

The only reason more people “get rejected” from the accounting minor is because the standards for entry are higher than biz econ if I’m not mistaken. I’m thinking it’s a 3.5 GPA for the minor and a 3.3 primary score for Biz Econ, not positive though.

Thank you so much! The wording on the website along with numerous rumors floating around make the whole application/acceptance process hard to understand.

A quick question, if gpa/primary score is 3.491 or you know, something like that, do they round to the next number as in this will be 3.5? It might be a silly question but a friend and I were discussing about the worst possible situation that could happen…

Seriously, how hard is this to comprehend?

If your primary score (which is a modified GPA) is greater than or equal to a 3.3, you meet that requirement.

As an example, a 3.301 qualifies. A 3.299 does not.
